If a glass is coloured purple, it means that manganese dioxide was used to make glass look clear and transparent. Exposure to sunlight though caused the glass to turn purple.
During World War II, glass makers shifted to selenium as supply for manganese dioxide was limited.
The last of these were produced in 1937, they are still produced in clear glass.
Measuring at H14 x W7cm
